Main Idea

Given grade level text Student has read or had read to her she will correctly identify the main idea or gist 4 of 5 trials as measured by special education teacher collected work sample data.

Given a 7th grade level reading passage presented orally, Student will increase his comprehension by determining the main idea correctly with minimal support on 2 of 3 trials as measured by teacher collected work sample data. 

Student will increase his inferential reading comprehension skills by correctly identifying the theme or central idea of a grade level text he has read or had presented orally in 2 of 3 trials as measured by special education teacher collected work samples.

When given a 3rd grade reading text Student will be able to independently read the passage, she will be able to explain the main idea with 100% accuracy three trials in a row as measured by special education data collection.

When given a grade level text presented orally, Student will be able to accurately identify the central idea of the text and give at least 2 supporting details related to the text in 4/5 trails as measured by the special education teacher data collection.
